ROCKPORT — The Rockport Public Library will host Madonna Mooney, Thursday, June 8, at 10:30 a.m., for a presentation she created to raise public awareness about the special needs of dogs during the warmer months. Some of the topics to be covered include: water safety, hydration, exertion, hot pavement, and leaving dogs in hot cars.
“Hopefully, these reminders will help our canine friends stay safe and healthy, prevent injury, and particularly avoid the perennial issue of dogs left in hot cars,” said Mooney, in a RPL news release.
Mooney is an experienced medical professional, however, she is not a veterinarian. She will be sharing information and resources from: ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), MASPCA (Massachusetts ASPCA), American Veterinarian Association, Angell Animal Medical Centers Boston, American Kennel Club, and New York Times Science.
